Citizens who attended the first Pineview Road Widening project public meeting played a significant role in the new proposed design for the roadway project. The project area stretches along Pineview Road from Bluff Road to Garners Ferry Road.

Program engineers have revised their original proposal of constructing a three-lane roadway from Bluff Road to Shop Road. Many of the residents along Pineview Road, and those who frequent the area, submitted comment cards during the first public comment period opposing the three-lane design option.

Instead, engineers are proposing an intersection improvement at Bluff Road and Pineview Road along with a shared-use path from Bluff Road to approximately Metal Park Drive to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists. A three-lane roadway is proposed from Metal Park Drive to Shop Road. A five-lane section, including on-street bike lanes and sidewalk is proposed from Shop Road to Garners Ferry Road. This new design proposal will decrease the overall cost of constructing the widening project.

Engineers will present the public with the proposed plans for the widening project during a second public meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for citizens to talk to project engineers and view the new plans for the roadway project.

The public will have an opportunity to make formal, verbal comments regarding the proposed project. Anyone who would like to verbally comment will be asked to sign up before the presentation begins. Sign-up will be available when entering the public meeting. Each formal, verbal comment will be limited to two minutes.

Information on the proposed plans for Pineview Road Widening project can be found at http://www.richlandpenny.com.

The public is encouraged to attend and leave comments at the meeting. Citizens can also review the website and obtain a copy of the comment card and send electronically or by mail.
